I was joined by three others to do birding at Brickhouse Road today; this
is part of the Falls Lake-Butner Game Land. We stayed out long enough,
well after 1 pm -- to get enough heat and sun to find quite a diversity of
butterflies for this late in October. (It was cloudy until late morning,
but there was a lot of blue sky after midday). Here is what Lori Arent and
Lori White found with me:

Cabbage White 2
Orange Sulphur 1
Cloudless Sulphur 5
Sleepy Orange 10
Little Yellow 1
Red-banded Hairstreak 2
E. Tailed-Blue 6
Variegated Fritillary 2
Pearl Crescent 15
Common Buckeye 5
American Lady 2
Painted Lady 2
Red Admiral 2
Carolina Satyr 2 one was quite fresh
Monarch 2
Long-tailed Skipper 1 never get tired of them in the Piedmont
Common Checkered-Skipper 8
Clouded Skipper 4
Fiery Skipper 5
Ocola Skipper 2

20 species
