Some people might want to go online and purchase a ticket (required in
advance) to get into Airlie Gardens in Wilmington:

For $9 you stand a good chance of seeing *Zebra Longwings*. According to
"Melissa Ann" on Facebook Carolina Leps (underline mine), after I saw her
photo:

"Yes, it was at Airlie yesterday (Sept. 4) and there were *quite a few of
them, maybe a dozen or more.* I saw at least one there back on August 9th
as well but no camera."

Some of us traveled to Fort Macon State Park in summer 2008 to see quite a
few of them, as a gravid female had laid quite a few eggs, and a large
brood was produced a month or more later. Obviously, a while back (one was
reported in late July) a gravid female laid quite a few eggs at Airlie to
produce this new brood.

Good luck!

Pete Dixon responded to a few of us that -- *from a window in his Madison
County home* (!!) on Sept. 5, saw (bold mine):

"... a *Leonard's Skipper* and 4 female Diana Frits, a GS Frit, a Tiger
Swallowtail and 2 Sachems all together on a single thistle in my backyard.
It's the same thistle that produced a Leonard's 2 years ago."

That's one heck of a thistle!! Nice finds at opposite ends of the state.
