Susie and others,

After looking at the photo, I would say that is an unidentifiable image.
All we can see is the underside of the forewing, not the all-important
hindwing. And, what I see could be one of quite a few species. Also,
Northern Broken-dash is quite rare in the Chatham County area -- I haven't
seen one in Wake County in a few decades if ever. There are some in Durham
County, but still it is scarce. Plus, I have never seen or heard of one
visiting a garden. Normally around here it is found in powerline clearings
with native grasses.

So -- best to let this one go. For ID of this tricky skipper, you will
need one or more photos of the *underside *of the hindwing. I can't rule
it out, but -- I'd say not likely.

Others want to chime in?
