After seeing practically nothing at the NC State farm fields owing to the
manic mowers, as usual, I needed to see a few butterflies, and Raulston
Arboretum lies between the farm fields and my home. So, nearly all of the
list below is from the arboretum except as noted. Weather was sunny and
warm, but with a modest SW breeze.

Pipevine Swallowtail 12
Black Swallowtail 6 one female
E. Tiger Swallowtail 1
Cabbage White 4
Orange Sulphur 1 1st at arboretum for me in a few trips
Cloudless Sulphur 6
Sleepy Orange 4 all at farm fields
LITTLE YELLOW 1 flight low across plowed field near Mid-Pines Road; FOY
Red-banded Hairstreak 2
Variegated Fritillary 1 no Gulf this time
Pearl Crescent 2
Common Buckeye 5
Monarch 2
Silver-spotted Skipper 8
Horace's Duskywing 4
Common Checkered-Skipper 2 females only
Clouded Skipper 3
Fiery Skipper 175+
Sachem 1 brood about finished
BYSSUS SKIPPER 1 female; in back garden; 2nd ever record here; 1st by me
in 2015

Very low skipper diversity -- no Ocolas, Sachem brood done,
Checkered-Skipper brood about done,as well. Brushfoots low all year -- 4
species and 10 individuals today
