Seventeen participants assembled for today's Massachusetts Butterfly Club walk, including several that had never been on a butterfly walk. Temperatures neared 60, but it was sunny.
We walked the area near the headquarters parking lot, then the gas pipeline, and ended with the Bentley loop.
Butterflies seen: spring azure 60, brown elfin 25, hoary elfin 7, sleepy duskywing 15, juvenal duskywing 8, eastern pine elfin 10, eastern tailed-blue 6. Also seen: 8 spotted tiger beetle, several corporals and a damselfly (odes), and other insects. Plants included bird-foot violet. Birds included pine warbler, purple finch, chipping sparrow, chickadee, towhee, red-breasted nuthatch.
Thank you all for joining us!
