Lauren, Mike Newton and I met up at Horn Pond Mountain today between 10:30am and 1pm. Beautiful day, full sun, upper 60's.
The purpose of the trip was to find a Juniper Hairstreak and it was successful! Not only that, but for a lifer butterfly, I have to think it was the best possible example I could ask for!
We saw several species: 1 Juniper Hairstreak 8 Brown Elfins 1 fresh Eastern Tiger Swallowtail drying it's wings in the pines 2 Cabbage Whites 2 Juvenals Duskywings 2 swallowtail flyovers (possibly black swallowtails) 1 Mourning Cloak
