I had a remarkably good butterfly day up on Beneke Creek near Jewell, Clatsop, OR. The weather has been cool and wet all spring and the flowers are mostly running late, so I had low expectations. They were easily surpassed.
3 Pale Swallowtails 2 Western Tiger Swallowtails many Margined Whites 2 Echo Azures 3 Eastern Tailed Blues many Western Meadow Fritillaries 1 Mylitta Crescent 1 Red Admirable 1 Two-banded Checkered Skipper
No parnassians
I found HOUSE WRENS at Hamilton Prairies, Jewell HQ and at Beneke Creek=20 5-mile. I, also heard MOUNTAIN QUAIL and 5-mile. A CANADA JAY was at Hamilton Prairie be tag-teamed by a couple WARBLING VIREOS.
