Marie Poteat

I was very limited on time in the yard today, but while out this morning I
was amazed at the butterfly activity. After a long dry spell in June and
early July, we have gotten almost 6 inches of rain in the last week with 3
inches yesterday. Silver Spotted Skippers were everywhere this morning
with about 10 in one Zinnia bed with several aerial group displays.
Eastern Tiger Swallowtails were numerous with 5 in one Zinnia bed at the
same time. I am very encouraged by this activity and hope it continues.
There were several skippers and hairstreaks that I saw without time to
pursue for an identification.
