Nope. Announcements over this listserve at it. You will find that there have been no Coastal Plain counts in NC for the past couple of years, owing to poor results. Seems like every year there are a few folks who want to help out on a Coastal Plain count, like at Croatan National Forest or Wilmington/Southport or Pettigrew State Park. And, just because the count compilers like Ed Corey and I might not be interested,* that does not mean other folks cannot pick up the ball and do counts there or elsewhere *-- a major pet peeve of mine. (Remember -- Ed and I live in the eastern Piedmont, a long way from our count circles.)
If you are interested in doing a count, you can let me know. Counts need to abide by rules of the North American Butterfly Association -- https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.naba.org/__;!!OToaGQ!qP0kl0jvdo277RDRIyYK2sM7AIJDFfYW6ZjUIw6zsFDn8RPEapcpO_p8YLD9MQuJEW1FvDT-_0PIRoe5D3wTtg$ (as do bird counts with National Audubon). Places like Nags Head Woods, Kitty Hawk Woods, Duck areas -- etc. can certainly fit within a 15-mile diameter circle. There is an already existing Mainland Dare County circle, but we haven't done that in maybe 8 years -- a long way from the Triangle, where sadly most of the observers have had to come from, in the past.
Harry LeGrand NC count coordinator/editor
But, you folks can start one out your way, like a 15-mile circle that covers Nags Head Woods, Kitty Hawk, Duck, etc.
