I recall seeing multiple assertions in the literature about eurytheme and
philodice frequently hybridizing. But what I have not found in the
literature is evidence to back up such claims. One biologist that I chatted
with years ago expressed his opinion that eurytheme and philodice are
"semi-species" . My opinion goes the other way and so I believe that
'philodice' sensu most contemporary literature should be further split into
different species.
