Nancy Mandlove and I spent 4 hours in the field this morning in northern Spartanburg County for the migration bird count. Butterflies noticed included-
2 Spicebush Swallowtail 1 Tiger Swallowtail 2 Checkered White Holston Creek Park where I've seen them some years 1 Cabage White 2 Summer Azure 3 Sleepy Orange 1 Pearl Crescent 4 American Lady 2 Red Admiral 2 Zabulon Skipper both females
Perhaps best birds were the Horned Lark that seem to be permanent residents at Holston Creek Park and the Orchard Oriole which has returned for the perhaps 7th year in a row to private land at Caroland Farms plus the resident Barn owls there.
