Wow, 21 species--good butterflying! I'm envious.=20

I'd say you saw just about everything you might have, other than more
tortoiseshells and anglewings. The "_Colias_" is surprising--you don't
say how many. Sightings of Oranges are very rare in the spring, though
they sometimes may overwinter in some stage in mild winters in the
lowlands, but I doubt if that applied to this year. And _C. eriphyle_
yellows are very rare on the West Side, period. Western sulphurs (_C.
occidentalis_) do occur at higher elevations in Mason Co., but this
seems low and early. Is it possible that what you saw were the very
buttery female _P. marginalis_ that often present in the spring? They
can be quite deceptively yellow.=20
