Guilford County - Jamestown 8-26-2023 Marie Poteat Due to a very intense storm here Thursday afternoon, I lost power until late Friday. We received over 3 inches of rain with high wind, While cleaning up debris Saturday I checked on my plants and the butterflies. Even with a lot of the plants tossed around, a lot of butterflies were observed; however, the number of skippers are down after the storm including the usually ubiquitous Silver Spotted Skipper. The one exception was 5 Delaware Skippers on a thistle. 4 Monarchs 18+ Eastern Tiger Swallowtails 1 Spicebush Swallowtail 1 Pipevine Swallowtail 1 Cloudless Sulphur 2 Sleepy Orange 1 Orange Sulphur 1 White-M Hairstreak 1 Red-banded Hairstreak 3 Eastern Tailed-blues 1 Azure, Summer 2 American Ladies 2 Common Buckeyes 1 Red Admiral 1 Eastern Comma 1 Question Mark 4 Northern Pearly-eyes 2 Appalachian Browns 4 Carolina Satyrs 3 Horace's Duskywings 3 Silver Spotted Skippers 6 Sachems 5 Delaware Skippers 1 Swarthy Skipper |
