Our only butterflying there was at the Bodie Island Lighthouse parking area, where the sneezeweed was hopping with skippers as Harry LeGrand already posted. An interesting experience with crowds of visitors walking by as Elisa & I "stared at the ground," as with each pass of a clump of sneezeweed with binocs a different species would show up mixed in with the numerous broken-dashes. With time restraints (souvenirs from the gift shop there only held the kids' attention for so long) we only worked the sneezeweed between the office building and the boardwalk, but I wish we had lingered longer to check more of the sneezeweed and to see the Aaron's Skippers & other butterfliers! By noon we were on our way home, but once again took an indirect route and stopped by Pembroke Creek Park near Edenton in Chowan Co., where I spent a few minutes checking along the boardwalk there, with all nectaring seen there on the pickerelweed.
