Hello all--I did my route today on Truman Rd in Rockingham=C2=A0 County. He= re are some observations overall:=20=20=20 - Fewer butterflies this week, maybe because I went earlier in the day a= nd because it was cooler? - All of the Carolina Satyrs I saw today were larger and lighter than la= st week. Last week's were small and dark in comparison to this week's. Jeff= Pippen confirmed that they were both Carolinas. - Only one Eastern Swallowtail - Many fewer fritillaries, but again, maybe it was the time of day and t= emperature - In two of my sections, I saw no butterflies - I saw two Pearl Crescents, one much larger and darker than the other. = They looked to be mating.=C2=A0 Here is the count:ETB 14Clouded Skipper 2Variegated Fritillary 3=C2=A0=C2= =A0Summer Azure=C2=A0 2Pearl Crescent 14Gray Hairstreak 1Unidentified Skipp= er 4Dun Skipper 2Appalachian Brown 1Clouded Skipper 1Gulf Fritillary 1Commo= n Buckeye 3Red Banded Hairstreak 1Gemmed Satyr 1Sleepy Orange 1Eastern Tige= r Swallowtail 1An incidental orange or cloudless sulfur Caroline Tisdale, Greensboro NC
