I, too, headed out to the Sandhills Gamelands in Richmond County this weeke=
nd, though apparently at a different time as everyone else (3/31 in the lat=
e morning until a bit after noon). I was unable to find any Yucca Giant Ski=
ppers, despite a late-morning search of several nice stands of yuccas. Howe=
ver, the blooming coastal serviceberry that others have mentioned was absol=
utely loaded with nectar-loving insects, including the Eastern Pine Elfin a=
nd Hessel's Hairstreak below. Note: those two individuals were only present=
on the bushes for about 30 seconds of the 30 minutes I spent at the bushes=
. Pics of the butterflies are on eButterfly: https://urldefense.com/v3/__ht=
