Though the calendar says April 25, I swear butterflying today seemed more
like May 1-3; the spring push is over, owing to a very warm and advanced
spring. I visited a site in n.e. Franklin County where I have been often
over the years, usually in mid-April, under mostly sunny and mild
conditions (fine enough). Here are the rather disappointing totals for
nearly 6 hours of walking, and you can see the "spring season" --
duskywings in numbers, azures, etc., -- is over here.

Zebra Swallowtail 1
Pipevine Swallowtail 3
Black Swallowtail 1 male; quite a surprise in a forested setting with
dirt tracks
Spicebush Swallowtail 5
E. Tiger Swallowtail 6
E. Tailed-Blue 6
Variegated Fritillary 1
Red-spotted Purple 1
American Lady 6
Red Admiral 2
Pearl Crescent 10
Carolina Satyr 5
Southern Cloudywing 2
Northern Cloudywing 1
Silver-spotted Skipper 5
Juvenal's Duskywing 2 about done here
ZARUCCO DUSKYWING 1 fresh male; certain ID; rare in spring in this part
of the state
Zabulon Skipper 1 male
