We did the Fannie Stebbins and Forest Park Fieldtrip yesterday, Aug. 17.
The morning was cloudy and overcast but the afternoon was warm and sunny.
Participants were: Randy Kuerzel, Betty Robo, Michelle Moore, Peter Loshin,
Lisa Wolfe, Barbara Volkle, Steve Moore, and Moe O'Connor. It was an
enjoyable and productive fieldtrip. Here are the butterflies that we saw:

Fannie Stebbins Refuge, Longmeadow:
Harvesters (2) flying around a clump of alders.
Red Banded Hairstreak (1)( Thanks, Betty)
Gray Hairstreaks (2)
Least Skippers (15)
Zabulon Skippers (10) mostly males, but at least one female.
Silver Spotted Skippers (6)
Monarchs (2)
Appalachian Browns (12)
Pearl Crescents (6)
Black Swallowtails (2)
Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Red Admirals (2)
Eastern Tailed Blue (2)

Washington Boulevard, Forest Park, Springfield:
Tawny Emperor (1) high up in hackberry tree along woodland trail
Hackberry Emperor (1) up in smaller hackberry tree in woods.
Eastern Tailed Blue (1) female, in front lawn on Washington Blvd.
