Enthusiast, Yesterday from 1:30-3:30p I checked out the fields of Bitterweed (Helenium amarum) growing around Bodie Island Lighthouse in S Nags Head. Weather nice, NE 5-10 sunny 72F. LOTS of Tourist. Hoping to see the larger coastal skippers but didn't happen. Below is my list, conservative #s (I'm clueless in counting these swarming bugs!)
